It seems that Arik Air is having a tough time of it at the moment, with the airline forced to suspend domestic operations from what it calls.
“the unwarranted actions of the Ministry of Aviation and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to disrupt our domestic operations and our customers”.
It seems there is a dispute over payments between the FAAN and Arik Air, with passengers stranded because this, with the FAAN blocking check-in counters and chaining doors leading to a boarding gate.
Arik Air’s international and regional services still continue to operate, with the airline hoping to resolve the disagreement over fees as soon as possible to restart domestic operations.
Passengers will be refunded the cost of their tickets and transit passengers in Lagos will be offered hotel accommodation in the meantime.
For Nigeria, this is another unneeded kick due to Air Nigeria (nee Virgin Nigeria) halting operations earlier this month. For passengers, it’s another set of delays.
Arik Air must continue! They have two 747-8 orders!
