Aeroflot and the management of Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport have come to agreement to increase the amount of space avalible to Aeroflot and other SkyTeam members at the airport.
The plan is for terminals D, E and F to be released to the Aeroflot and its partners from Summer 2014.
This leaves only Terminal B & C available at Sheremetyevo to all other carriers – both Russian and non Russian – putting a major squeeze on other carriers.
AirBaltic, Air Astana, LOT, Finnair and SAS operate international services into the current DEF annex and as a result may move of airport if Terminal C is not a suitable environment to operate in and out of.
Also operating out of Terminal F is Aeroflots main competitor – Transaero Airlines who operate widebody charter services out of Moscow-SVO (as well as its main services out of Moscow-DME and a selection of services from Moscow-VNO)
For SkyTeam, a major hub is in the works. For everyone else, it could be time to find new airports if this goes through and SVO Terminal B and C turn into over crowded areas….
