Lets go back to the sorry saga of KingFisher Airlines, which now appears to be grounded to at least 20th October, with a promise of resumption of service on the 21st October 2012
During the weekend, the Kingfisher Airlines issued the following statement:
“The company is continuing to work with, and appeal to, the employees striking to return to work so that the airline can share its resumption plan with DGCA [Directorate General Of Civil Aviation] and gain their concurrence”
“At this time, the airline is hopeful of resuming operations starting October 21”
Kingfisher have been in the do-do for some time, and was forced to cancel services on 1st October 2012 after employee unrest over mothers without wages where a member of Kingfisher management was physically attacked, passengers were stranded on an aircraft for hours and a strike commenced. KingFisher declared “a partial lockout”, with it saying it would recommence operations on the 5th October. Then the 12 October.
This is now the 2nd extention to the lockout. Meanwhile in Kingfisher related news, an arrest warrant has been issued for the airlines Chairman – Vijay Mallya and give other airline executives over bouncing checks to the city’s airport operator.
GMR Hyderabad International Airport, the city’s airport manager, claims that Kingfisher has bounced checks covering user fees and filed a court action to collect – and seemly, Vijay Mallya didn’t turn up to the court case – so a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Ever get the feeling we’re watching the “Bring out your dead” scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail when it comes to Kingfisher?
