And I do occasional – more so at the moment. From not paying attention to my inbox (and having twitter go mad on my desktop), to having to respond to articles late at night.
The fact is this: I lifted content from John at Australian Business Traveller over the Hong Kong EChannel article and didn’t credit it – and a substantial chunk too.
I have published an apology on that post, and I re-iterate here:
PREFACE/CORRECTION: Some of this article (including a couple of images and a list of airlines) is based on the post from Australian Business Traveller at http://www.ausbt.com.au/fast-track-for-frequent-flyers-at-hong-kong-airport. Other bits of the post came from the Hong Kong Government Web Site and Wikipidea.
Whilst some of this post came from my actual experience with eChannel whilst in Hong Kong, to get the missing picture, I had to route around to try and get the missing bits.
I apologise profusely for the infringement caused and unreservedly offer an apology.
Whilst I can offer multiple excuses, they really don’t cut the mustard – so again, I apologise.
I do try and multi-source my articles where possible (checking for disparities) – and sometimes I mess up when it comes to attrition.
I freely admit I’m not perfect, but I do try to improve each day. That’s part of the reason why I’m cutting down my posts for a bit whilst I deal with my personal issues, allowing me to get quality posts out that are subject to more scrutiny and checking… and with me.
This post slipped out at time when I was aiming a label printer at my IT Managers head, whilst working out if I had a job beyond March 2013 – pointing to slapdash editing.
It didn’t help I didn’t read my inbox to apologise and edit things straight away, and respond in a timely manner.
So yes, I messed up majorly without trying – and I can only adjust the article, apologise and learn going forward.
I apologise to John and to you my readers – I know you expect better of me, and I will learn from this as I go forward.
