It seems the first flight of the Bombardier CSeries is having an effect, as another carrier is looking around the CSeries aircraft according to Flight
The carrier in question is Lion Air of Indonesia.
The airline is aiming to finalise an order for the new aircraft towards the end of 2013, and is looking toward the Bombardier CS300 series aircraft.
The CS300 is the larger version of the CSeries, with ability to carry 145 people aboard.
Lion Air operates a diverse fleet containing Boeing 747s, 737-800s, 737-900ERs as well as ATR-72s – leaving a gap in-between for the CSeries to fit in.
Lion Air – like a lot of Low Cost Carriers buy in bulk (the airline currently has order with Boeing and Airbus for over 400 aircraft). Whilst this won’t be the mega order into the hundreds – according to Flight – the order will be in the double digits.
Of course, double digits could mean 10. It could also mean 99.
Which for Bombardier will be a relief as another airline buys their new plane. So far, there are firm orders for 114 CS300 aircraft – and another vote of confidence that may lead to more carriers taking a deeper examination of this new aircraft.
