As the severe storm that has battered much of the south of the United Kingdom passes into the North Sea and beyond, in its wake are delays, cancellations as well as some infrastructure damage too.
London Heathrow has suffered over 130 cancellations affecting European and Domestic flight programmes, with the knock-on disruption to continue through the day.
London Gatwick reports minimal distributions, with 7 cancellations reported.
However, both airports are advising you check before you travel with your airline if your flight is operating.
Meanwhile on the railways, a lot of railways companies are advising to travel only if you have need to today. Latest updates can be found at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/indicator.aspx for those who need the trains today, with the disruption in the South of England having consequences through the national network:
- Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect are operating as normal for now
- Eurostar is operating a normal service
- South West Trains says it is hoping to gradually get services back to normal as conditions ease
- East Coast has no trains running south of Peterborough due to flooding in the tunnel at Potters Bar, and trees on the line at Barnet and Hertford.
- First Great Western says it is running services on most routes, with delays and alterations
- Virgin West Coast is starting to run limited services out of Euston
- First Capital Connect have suspended services until further notice
- C2C has suspended services until further notice.
- Greater Anglia and Stansted Express services remain are suspended.
- Southern and Gatwick Express has resumed as the Brighton mainline is now clear of debris
- London Overground is operating a limited service with severe delays
- Southeastern is operating a limited service, with most lines not operating at this time
- Chiltern Railways have been cancelling services too
There are lot of fallen trees around as well as road closures, which may impact your journeys too, and it is advised you allow extra time for your trips today.
The storm has now passed, but the cleanup will take time…
