Air-France KLM have got a firm offer from Intro Aviation of Germany for the Dublin based regional carrier CityJet, with the VLM subsidiary – who operate services under the Air France banner.
Financial terms have not been disclosed at this time, however Air France-KLM are hoping the transaction will close during Q1 of 2014.
CityJet are the largest operator out of London City Airport, operating a mixture of Avro RJ85 Regional Jets and Fokker 50 Turboprop aircraft, with bases in Dublin and Antwerp.
Intro Aviation’s background is an interesting one, as has a habit of turning airlines around, then selling them. This can be examined in the group taking ownership of Deutsche BA – with the airline turning the airline around, renaming it to DBA, then selling it to Air Berlin.
In unrelated news, CityJet has pulled the plug on its London – Dundee service, with services due to end on 30th March 2014, as the route is no longer commercially viable.
CityJet currently operate two flights a day between London City – Dundee.
A time of change at CityJet. Hopefully Intro Aviation can turn the airline around – because it forms on hell of a lot of traffic out of London City…
