It seems that Delta and Virgin Atlantic’s joint working programme is bearing further fruit as Delta and Virgin Atlantic will offer a service between Chicago O’Hare International and London Heathrow.
The new route will begin on 26th October – after the Virgin Atlantic summer season only London-Chicago route concludes.
The timetable looks like this:
DL040 DEPART ORD 17:30 ARRIVE LHR 07:35+1 DL039 DEPART LHR 09:30 ARRIVE ORD 12:45 Commences: 26th October Operates Daily Booked Equipment: Boeing 767-300ER
Booking is open for these flights.
This is an interesting development to say the least as all three major airline alliances from October will operate a route between London and Chicago – with United offering 3 flights a day (Star Alliance), American offering 3 flights a day, British Airways offering two flights a day (5 flights a day via Oneworld) .
Whilst I can’t predict a fare war breaking out, it will shake up the current order of things – especially if Delta discounts prices the route.
Let the games commence!

Now Delta will be operating flights from Chicago to London and Paris, as they sub for Air France in the winter as well. Maybe Delta is trying to stir the pot here in the midwest.
