It’s Saturday again, so its time to grab some popcorn, pop your seat into a lazy position and ensure you have a beverage to hand as we go to this week’s video.
This week’s video focuses on a special McDonnell Douglas DC-10. Whilst the class was withdrawn from passenger use this year (have a read of my DC-10 experiences in a special trip report), they are still used as cargo aircraft mainly.
However, there are some very special DC-10s out there – one in particular is used by the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital, which is used as an eye hospital and teaching facility.

The Orbis DC-10 may look like a normal one on the outside, but on the inside – it’s a different beast:
The next generation version of the plane is currently in build (from a donation from FedEx), and is shaping up to deliver more eyecare and education through the world.
Orbis is a charity, with support details at http://www.orbis.org/. For more information about the DC-10 Flying Hospital programme see http://www.orbis.org/feh about a very unique plane, serving an important purpose.
