Six routes will be switched over in the Autumn of 2015, starting in August and through to March 2016 (and yes – we’re now talking about route changes going into 2016… we’re not even halfway through 2015 yet).
So the six routes from Houston Intercontinental that will change will be:
- Rio de Janeiro – from 18th August 2015
- Frankfurt – from 24th September 2015
- Buenos Aires – from 25th October 2015
- Amsterdam – from 17th December 2015
- Santiago de Chile – from 5th January 2016
- Toyko Narita – from 3rd March 2016
Data: Airlineroute
Booking for these routes is open now.
The 787-9s will replace the existing Boeing 767-300ERs, Boeing 777-200ERs and even 787-8s that are being operated on these routes currently.
United configure their 787-9s as:
- 48 BusinessFirst seats in 2-2-2 formation
- 88 Economy Plus seats in 3-3-3 formation
- 116 Economy seats in 3-3-3 formation
Currently, United operate a fleet of six Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with another ten frames to join at a later date.
As United continues to expand its use of the Boeing 787 and working out what destinations are best for their new aircraft – expect more route announcements to come.
