When travelling, not all of us hold elite status with an airline or an alliance with the airline we’re flying with. This is where pay-for lounges come in.
Plaza Premium has added a new option for those departing Heathrow Terminal 4 (The SkyTeam and non-aligned airlines terminal of Heathrow Airport), allowing for any passenger willing to pay to enter the lounge.
The lounge offers extensive choices of food and beverage, complimentary Wi-Fi and shower facilities, and looks – well – rather pretty for a lounge.
Food Area – note the plugs for charging devices
Lounge area – again lots of power sockets.
Food in the lounge is a mix of European and Asian food – with the lounge being the only one to serve Halal prepared food to cater to customers who need this as a requirement.
Whilst the lounge officially opens on the 5th June, it is currently open for passengers who need to pop through and use its facilities.
So what’s the cost? Access to this lounge will start at £35 per person for two hours, or £30 during the months of May and June.
From the looks of it, this lounge is also in the Priority Pass scheme – which means it should be accessible for those who need it through that membership.
Plaza Premium also operates a lounge in Terminal 2 – The Queens Terminal (or the Star Alliance Terminal) for those of you without Star Alliance Gold membership who wish to access a lounge. They also operate an arrivals lounge in Terminal 4 too.
A lot of us are used to having the lounge membership as a perk of our elite status, or when we fly business class. However, there are times when we get to an airport, we need to work or we need to relax and the public area isn’t the place to do that with the noise and disturbances.
Plaza Premium looks to offer a different product for those who aren’t tied to alliance, aren’t on business class fares or for those want to try something different.
And it looks a good option to me.
