STRIKER: Surely you can't be serious. DR. RUMACK: I am serious, and don't call me Shirley!
If I said those words out loud, your brain should instantly flicker to the classic Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker film that is Airplane.
A DVD? What’s that? It’s a way of storing films and data on a disk. But that’s not important right now….
This month Airplane! celebrates the 35th Anniversary of its release into cinemas.

Airplane itself is a parody of Zero Hour … and to be honest, it’s one of my favourite comedy films mainly due to the slapstick comedy, and the tour de force that is Leslie Nielsen.
And of course, the longest joke in the film – the propeller engines when the plane is in the air… when they’re on a jet.
Le Chic Geek like me enjoys Airplane too and has many articles on it.
Before anyone asks I prefer to watch this, than to watch movies Gladiators.
It can’t be summed up in 10 minutes well (least of all – all the visual jokes), but here’s a very good attempt:
Maybe one of the bigger legacies of Airplane is that it put a stop to the Airport disaster films… which were dire.
Just remember, if you are going to have a celebratory viewing of it over the next month, avoid the fish (and Airplane II for that matter).
Just saying…

Wouldn’t the longest running joke in the movie be the guy in the taxi? ;o)
