Let’s be honest, there’s only a few statuses I care about (and even then I’m letting one of those go this year)… so imagine my surprise today when I went for a Starbucks in Birmingham when I found out Starbucks UK is offering their Gold status… for FREE.
Free Gold?
That sounded way too good to be true… but a quick check of the Starbucks UK site confirms this!
For those of you starting out with Starbucks Rewards in the UK, it’s normally a 50 visit slog to get to Gold, and another 50 drinks to retain gold so this is one hell of a shortcut.
Bonuses for being a gold are actually ones I value (normally the espresso shots in my case).
- Free Extra Shots
- Select Free Syrups
- Free Whipped Cream
- Free Origin Espresso Upgrade
So there is definitely value to be had out of this.
The usual 15 visits = 1 free drink also applies too.
Starbucks Rewards UK require the purchase of a Starbucks card (either through their app or at a Starbucks store) with £5 on it to activate the account.
And of course this offer is for the UK Version of Starbucks Rewards… so don’t expect to see it outside the UK!
Full terms and conditions of Starbucks Rewards UK are at http://www.starbucks.co.uk/card/rewards/rewards-program-ts-and-cs
For those of you who are Starbucks Golds already, you’re probably feeling a little cheesed off at this. Me… to say I’m cheesed off would be an accurate assessment of the situation as I’m about 15 drinks from retaining Gold this year (which for me… is good going).
Of course, I can see nothing in the terms and conditions that there’s nothing preventing you from having two or more Starbucks Rewards accounts.
That could be interesting. Just saying…

Wow – 50 is a lot; I think it’s only 15 in the U.S., but you essentially get nothing for it. You used to get free syrups which I valued, but they took that away a few years ago.

Going to England this summer. I didn’t notice anything in T&Cs restricting it to UK residents. Think I can register on the UK site and reap the benefits for my visit? I can use a relative’s address if needed.
