After writing about the first routes for Singapore Airlines A350 yesterday, it seems today was the day that Airbus formally delivered the aircraft to Singapore Airlines.

The first aircraft left Toulouse for its new home of Singapore – where the plane will be pressed into service rather quickly.
The first flight to Kuala Lumpur is due to commence flying on the 8th March on flight pair SQ118/119
Singapore Airlines will be operating the aircraft in a three-class configuration, split by:
- 42 Business Class Seats
- 24 Premium Economy Seats
- 187 Economy Seats
- = Total: 253 Seats
However, there was an interesting titbit of news that came out of the delivery ceremony from @JetSetCD regarding the use of the Ultra Long Range A350ULR’s:
The latest from @SingaporeAir CEO: the A350 ULR (Ultra Long Range) coming in 2018 will be flown to New York, LA, & a third U.S. city, TBA.

A 3rd US city… but which one?
No hints have been dropped yet, but this could be very interesting to see which 3rd US City Singapore Airlines thinks it can get the loads to run a non stop ultra-longhaul service with.
The A350ULR’s future has suddenly got a LOT more interesting.

I”m so glad we’re starting to get the fun planes at LAX. I love a 747/777/A380 as much as the next guy, but there’s something special about a new plane in the first few years of service. After having flown KLM’s old 747’s I would be so happy to see their two dailies turn into 2x-4x daily on a 787.

I hope that third U.S. city is Chicago 😉
