It’s taken long enough to sort out the arguments with unions, but it seems that Transport for London have announced a date for “All Night Tube” services to commence…
And it’s the 19th August 2016.
London Underground Central Line Train at Debden – Image, Economy Class and Beyond
The Night Tube will operate on the 19th August on the Central Line, with Piccadilly, Jubilee and Northern Line services to follow during the Autumn.
This will not be true 24/7/365 running – rather Night Tube will operate on Fridays and Saturdays.
What’s operating and where? The coverage is mainly deep level underground lines
- The Central Line will operate from Ealing Broadway to Lougton or Hainault, covering the city centre core.
- The Victoria will run through its entire length
- The Northern Line will operate on the Charings Cross Branch, and through to Edgware. The Bank Branch and branch to Mill Hill East will not operate
- The Piccadilly line will operate between Cockfosters, through the city and down to Heathrow Terminal 5 branch (serving the Heathrow Central Area, but not terminal 4).
Sadly it seems – not all the issues with the unions are not sorted out yet – but lets hope they are before the services commence.
The Night Tube project has been plagued with issues – with staff striking over the plans. It seems there is still some to overcome still. However, for those who enjoy a night in London, but have to rush back for the last train home – at least there’s a chance you can get home without resorting to night buses or expensive taxis…
