We mesure a lot of our lives, our finances and even fleet sizes in numbers. Well today, Airbus passed one very big milestone with the delivery of its 10,000th aircraft.
The aircraft in question – is one of the latest from the Airbus range – a A350-900 for Singapore Airlines.

The aircraft as you can see how been adorned with a “10,000th Airbus” logo.
As for the aircraft? Singapore Airlines will be looking to use the A350-900 to launch its Singapore to San Francisco service, which is due to commence this month.
For Airbus, it’s a major milestone, that started with:
- the A300 series aircraft (wide-body – out of production)
- the A310 following (wide-body – out of production )
- The successful A320/A320neo family (narrow-body)
- The A330/A330neo family (wide-body)
- The A340 family (sadly for some – out of production)
- The newst member – the A350 family (wide-body)
- And of course, the superjumbo that is the Airbus A380
Airbus is on track to the deliver another 650 aircraft a year from both its narrow body and wide bodied families.
For Singapore Airlines, they’ve taken nearly everything bar the A320s (which are currently operated by SilkAir and TigerAir).
For Airbus – like Boeing – the continued innovation will be its future to deliver aircraft that can go further, carry more passengers and cost less to operate. Whilst the Airbus/Boeing rivalry can be fierce – it has pushed forward aircraft design and – where aircraft can take us as passengers.
And ultimately, the airlines too will have to play their part for a superior passenger experience.
And that’s a good thing.
