Aer Lingus continues its slow and measured expansion, with the addition of Miami to its network.
Aer Lingus Airbus A330-200 beginning its take-off run at Dublin Airport. Image, Economy Class and Beyond.
The route will initially operate three times a week from 1st September 2017, based on the following time table:
EI141 DEPART DUB 15:00 ARRIVE MIA 19:15 EI140 DEPART MIA 21:10 ARRIVE DUB 10:35+1 Commences 1st September 2017 Operates Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays Booked Equipment: Airbus A330 (no subtype specified) Data: AirlineRoute
According to Airlineroute, the plane is configured for 23 Business class seats and 243 Economy Class Seats for the Miami route. This points to a Airbus A330-200 being utilised on this route when tying this data up with Seatguru (sorry A330-300 lovers… you’ll have to find another plane…)
Aer Lingus’s expansion – even before it was brought by IAG Group – has been slow and measured as opposed to going in with both feet and betting it all. By doing this, Aer Lingus has been able to judge the market before committing further resources.
And its working for them.
The other important thing to remember is that by adding routes out of Dublin (as well as pre-clearance when possible), it offers options to UK and European travellers it provides another hub to go through – which some might prefer rather than hubbing through London, Amsterdam, Paris or Frankfurt.
An interesting move. Where else might Aer Lingus head next?
