I wondered earlier this year when Ryanair would begin a full assault at Frankfurt Airport… and it seems that question has been answered at last, with the airline to launch 35 new routes from the airport.

Ryanair will base an additional three aircraft at Frankfurt – bringing its operational force to ten aircraft based in the heart of Lufthansa’s primary hub.
Commenting on the route launches, Ryanair’s David O’Brien states
We are pleased to announce an additional three based aircraft at Frankfurt Main to bring it to a total of 10 and an investment of $1billion. We have also launched our Frankfurt summer 2018 schedule with a total of 81 (35 new) routes to/from both Frankfurt Main and Frankfurt Hahn, which will deliver over 4.7m customers through the two airports this year. German customers and visitors are booking our winter 2017 seats in record numbers as fares continue to fall, so there’s never been a better time to book a low fare flight on Ryanair.
To celebrate the launch of the flights – you’ll never guess what Ryanair are doing.
Bingo.
It’s another sale. Lead-in fares start at €14.99 for travel in October and November, bookable until midnight 14th September.
But then… there’ll be another sale soon enough….
As for Frankfurt’s other primary operator – Lufthansa – surely, there must be more than a casual glance over their shoulder of what Ryanair are planning, and an appropriate counter will be coming along…

Be aware, the article refers to FRA but the quote from Ryanair (We have also launched our Frankfurt summer 2018 schedule with a total of 81 (35 new) routes to/from both Frankfurt Main and Frankfurt Hahn) speaks more broadly about the Frankfurt area, including Frankfurt Hahn HHN airport which is very distant and not rail connected to Frankfurt. Check the airport code before booking.
i have often considered Ryanair fligts but chose alternatives based on the thought of arriving at HHN late at night.
