Earlier on this year, MTR Express of Sweden said they would name a train “Trainy McTrainface”. And how we all laughed. Or cried. Or something in between.
Well, MTR Express has followed through with their promise… and thus Trainy McTrainface was christened.

Peder Osterkamp, the Chief Commercial Officer of MTR Express on the launch stated “We listen to the voice of the people”, and mentioned that the news of the Swedish train being named Trainy McTrainface has grabbed attention across the globe. reoccurring theme in the international media was that in Sweden, people’s voices are heard and their opinions are taken seriously with many bloggers wanting to move to Sweden “where there is still some democracy left”.
MTR Express noted after the launch Trainy McTrainFace went off on its first trip to Stockholm from Gothenburg.
Other trains that will be named will include Glenn, Estelle, and Lasse.

It’s great to see transport companies listen to the public occasionally – and sometimes working with the public when trying something playful. Hopefully, the same ear will be there when passenger experience needs and requirements are met.
MTR Express are an open access rail operator in Sweden, operating on the Intercity trunk route between Gothenburg and Stockholm, using a fleet of Stadler FLIRT electric train sets.
