With the national obession with weather in the United Kingdom – of note is the cold snap that is hitting the country – that will make it colder than Norway when adding the wind chill in.
The UK Met Office has announced Yellow warnings for today and Amber warnings for tomorrow
So is travel going to be affected? Of course it will.
British Airways has confirmed that conditions will affect the UK Domestic programme and short haul flights, with some flights already cancelled.
Other airlines have not yet responded – but conditions are likely to change during the day where cancellations may need to be raised. Airports similarly are advising customers to check with airlines before setting out to travel.
In terms of Rail, Greater Anglia (operating services from London to Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk) and C2C (operating services from London to South Essex-Thameside have announced early cancellations:
- Greater Anglia services will stop by 22:00
- C2C will wind down and reduce services from 21:00
Transport for London is advising currently to check before you travel
With snow expected to cover the UK by Wednesday, travel disruption is going to be a distinct possibility.
As the situation is more than likely going to deteriorate before it improves,
