Interjet of Mexico today announced that it will be taking the Geven Essenza seat (that we’ve seen with Lufthansa Group and WizzAir).
But with a few twists.
The seat launched with representatives of Geven, Airbus and Interjet – Images, Economy Class and Beyond.
So – the twists? Big ones in passenger experience terms – with the following promised for their Airbus A320neo aircraft:
- 34″ Seat Pitch
- Both USB and 110v Power at Seat
- A multi-function headrest
Interjet calls itself “Not a legacy airline, not a Low Cost Carrier – but Interjet”, offering included luggage allowances, drinks and snacks – things that some carriers will happily scrap in a minutes notice.
The seats for the new aircraft will fly in Q1 2019.
Whilst the Essenza is a lightweight seat in its normal form, Interjet are doing something very special with it that could elevate it higher than how some carriers are using it (see the previous two days announcements).
This is one I want to see in action when it flies.
