It seems that Etihad is making a very cruel cut to its network, with the airline choosing to chop one of its A380 frequencies between Abu Dhabi and New York JFK.

The operation will retain EY101/EY100 operation as follows
EY101 DEPART AUH 09:55 ARRIVE JFK 16:10 EY100 DEPART JFK 22:55 ARRIVE AUH 20:05+1 Commences 1st October 2018 Booked Equipment: Airbus A380 Data - Eithad
The new timetable has been loaded on the Etihad site:
Note EY103/EY102 are no longer listed.
The Airbus A380 will be deployed on the Abu Dhabi to Paris leg (which is due to go A380 operation from 1st October) with EY31/32. EY37/38 becoming an all-A380 operation. The double-daily frequency from Paris will strengthen the service currently offered out of Paris CDG.
In addition, one rotation of the Abu Dhabi to Los Angeles route will be subject to reduction from 4 flight a week to 3 flights a week according to RoutesOnline
This must have been a hard choice for Etihad to take – with a frequency and capacity cut between the two cities (where the airline could place a Boeing 777-300ER to replace the frequency if needed).
For some time, things haven’t been right – and whilst loads may had been high, yields are also part of the mix.
And it seems that Eithad reckon they can get better yields from Paris than New York.
Combined with some of the other routes being cut by Etihad, the choices for connecting via Abu Dhabi are becoming poorer…
Bonus points for the song reference in the title…
