Cathay Pacific goes for growth – frequency increases ahead

Honk Kong’s Cathay Pacific continues to increase frequencies on its network, with the airline increasing services to Adelaide, Frankfurt, Madrid and Tokyo during Autumn 2018 and Summer 2019.

Let’s have a look at this ambitious growth plan

Frankfurt

Hong Kong to Frankfurt will go 10 times weekly, with the introduction of 3 extra flights a week supplementing the daily CX289/288 service. CX283/282 will join the party, operating Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays – operated by an Airbus A350-900.

CX283 DEPART HKG 12:30 ARRIVE FRA 18:40 Airbus A350 Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays

CX288 DEPART FRA 13:45 ARRIVE  HKG 06:50+1 Boeing 777-300ER Daily
CX282 DEPART FRA 20:40 ARRIVE HKG 13:45+1 Airbus A350 Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays

New Timetable commences: 31st March 2019
CX289/CX288 operate daily with a Boeing 777-300ER
CX283/CX282 operate  Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with an Airbus A350-900.

 

Adelaide

Adelaide will gain a sixth flight a week from 28th October 2018, with a fill-in service on Fridays as part of CX175/174. The city is served by a split service, with half the flights operating one time of the day, the rest operating as another.

CX173 DEPART HKG 09:15 ARRIVE ADL 20:35 Airbus A330-300 Operates Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday

CX174 DEPART ADL 13:00 ARRIVE HKG 19:20 Airbus A330-300 Operates Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
CX175 DEPART ADL 22:15 ARRIVE HKG 05:05+1 Airbus A330-300 Operates Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday

Coomences: 28th October as 6x a week
Booked Equipment: Airbus A330-300

Madrid

Madrid is to go daily for the summer 2019 timetable, with extra flights to fly between June and October 2019 on Mondays and Wednesdays. These will use the Airbus A350-900, whilst then normal service continues to operate with a Boeing 777-300ER

CX320 DEPART MAD 12:30 ARRIVE HKG 07:05+1

Operates 3 June and 23 October 2019
CX315/CX320 operates with an Airbus A350-900 on Mondays and Wednesdays. Operate with a Boeing 777-300ER at other times.

Tokyo

Tokyo gets a major boost, with the introduction of a sixth daily service between Hong Kong and the Tokyo region. The new flight starts on the 28th October 2018, servicing the Nartia area.

Additional service commences 28th October 2018.
Booked Equipment: Airbus A330-300

It’s an impress growth move by Cathay Pacific who seem to want to solidify their network links and fill in gaps where they exist. One can hope the airline can sustain the growth in a manageable fashion and build out the missing bits into larger and sustainable services in the long run.
