In this world of airlines working across alliance lines, it seems Qantas and KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) are next in the list to announce codeshares between the Nederlands and Australia.

The new codeshare will involve Qantas placing its code on KLM flights between Amsterdam and Singapore, whilst KLM will add their code on Qantas flights between Singapore and Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.
The codeshares are subject to approval by governments and regulators.
Elite frequent flyers will benefit too, with Qantas passengers allowed to access the KLM Crown Lounge in Amsterdam, and KLM passengers able to access Qantas lounges in appropriate locations. Qantas passengers will be able to earn points and status credits when travelling on the Qantas-coded flights between Singapore and Amsterdam.
On the launch of the codeshares, Pieter Elbers – KLM President & CEO states:
We are very pleased with this new code-sharing agreement with Qantas. Australia is an important destination for business and leisure travellers, which is why Qantas is such an important partner. This also allows us to develop our presence in this beautiful part of the world.
Alison Webster, International CEO Qantas is happy, stating
This code-share provides customers with more choice of how they travel between Australia and Europe. It offers our customers another option to get to Amsterdam via our Singapore hub with more opportunities to earn status credits and Qantas Points. As two national carriers, each with a proud history of flying for nearly 100 years, Qantas and KLM are pleased to offer our customers more seamless experiences every time they fly.
Qantas has been busy recently signing codesahres with what were unlikely partners (such as the big signing with Emirates, the recent signing with Cathay Pacific and so on – at it seems Qantas’s International wing is using the codeshares to built out its network
Tickets for Qantas codeshare services operated by KLM will be available from 1 November 2018, for travel from 8 November 2018.
