SNAPSHOT: Finnair 10 Chicago to Helsinki operated by Air Italy (ECONOMY PRO).

30/10/2018 by Kevincm

It’s time for another snapshot – this time focusing on Finnair 10 between Chicago O’Hare International and Helsinki Vantaa.

For those of you who are new to the blog:

  • Trip Reports – These are full deep-dive reports taking you into the experience and the small things… as well as the big things!
  • Snapshots – These are bite-sized reviews that show you the basic product in some nice gentle headlines (and normally, only images shot on the phone)

Check-in

Ground handling was at Terminal 5. signs were out that Air Italy would be operating the flight to Helsinki

Lounge

Finnair uses the Air France-KLM lounge at terminal 5 (compared to the usual British Airways lounge for oneworld passengers)

a group of people sitting at tables in a room with a large window a water dispenser with fruit and vegetables a display case with food on it

Boarding

Boarding was delayed by an hour due to late arrival of the plane and a mechanical issue.

The plane

It’s an Air Italy Airbus A330-200 that has been leased from Qatar Airways – that’s operated for Finnair.

The seat

Economy seating is in 2-4-2. Product is akin to a standard A330 cabin, in an odd hybrid configuration, with Finnair blankets, Air Italy placards and Qatar Airways signs are almost everywhere still.

In flight entertainment

A low-resolution screen was in front of me, powered by Panasonic. There was a massive IFE box under seat.

Connectivity

On-board connectivity offered by Panasonic Aviation for Air Italy. Pricing was based per megabyte. The service was not brought.

Food and Drink

Two hot meal services were offered – a dinner service and a hot breakfast service

The views

Not many as it was a night flight.

The full trip report on Finnair 10 will be out soon!
