Another day, another dot and line appears, with Singapore Airlines adding Singapore to Seattle to its long haul network.

The planned operation calls for the route to launch on the 3rd September 2019, initially operating three times a week. This will scale up to four times a week in October 2019.

Planned operation is as follows:

SQ028 DEPART SIN 09:25 ARRIVE SEA 09:05
SQ027 DEPART SEA 10:45 ARRIVE SIN 17:30+1

Commences 3rd September 2019.
SQ28/SQ27 initially operates  Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday until October 2019
SQ28./SQ27 will operate Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from October 2019
Booked Equipment: Airbus A350-900

Singapore Airlines plans to use a three-class Airbus A350-900, configured with 42 Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy Seats and 187 Economy class seats

This will be Singapore Airlines fifth US destination, with New York, Newark, Los Angeles, Houston and San Francisco being the companies other destinations.

On the announcement of the route Singapore Airlines CEO, Mr Goh Choon Phong state:

“Our new non-stop flights to Seattle are another demonstration of our commitment to expand our operations in the important US market and grow our network reach. The new services will also further strengthen the Singapore hub by providing customers faster and more convenient connectivity from key markets such as Southeast Asia, South Asia and Australasia to North America,”

The airline is also preparing to spin up its non-stop services from Singapore to San Francisco and Los Angeles, utilising the new Airbus A350-900ULR aircraft.

For those looking for reward seats or actual cash fares, tickets go on sale from the 7th November 2019.

It’s an interesting step forward for Singapore Airlines, as they push their A350 fleet further afield, learning what the aircraft is capable of – as well as what markets can sustain these loads.

It seems the modelling for the route calls for an aircraft of this size. After all, whilst the airline could send a Boeing 777-300ER on this route, the problem you then have is filling it with high yield passengers…
