Etihad seeks to tap into Easter demand – adds additional flights to London Heathrow

21/02/2019 by Kevincm

With half-term upon us (and the roads a little quieter), it’s obviously time to consider the Easter Holidays.

Yes – the Easter Holidays are not far away.

Etihad is increasing the frequency of services between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow during April, with an additional 20 services operating from the 5th April on specific dates.

The services will use a Boeing 787-9, configured in a two-class setup:

The extra services are in addition to the three-times-daily service between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow.

James Harrison, General Manager for Etihad Airways in the United Kingdom and Ireland, said:

“We are thrilled to announce more flights to London during April, in response to increased demand in the lead up to and post the Easter holidays. This is a busy travel time for families looking to enjoy the extended school holiday. This extra service will allow our guests more choice and flexibility with their travel plans.”

Etihad Flexes

Understanding a market and being able to flex to the demands of a market is an important thing. For Etihad, that means funnelling as many people through its hub as possible, whilst getting them to pay to go onward with them to their final destination.

And that’s not to say it’s not a small lump of capacity – the airline already runs three Airbus A380s between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow each day.

For those looking for more choice when they travel with Etihad over the busy Easter break – this should be a boon to them.
