The Acro Series 6LC – Giving good options for the short-haul market

15/04/2019 by Kevincm

At the start of AIX, I previewed the Acro Series 6LC – the follow up to the Series 3 seat. I spent some time with Acro during the show to examine the passenger experience it offers.

The 6LC is aimed at the low-cost carrier, with the significant improvements and part reduction we’ve all come to expect from the seat aimed at the low-cost carriers. It borrows from the Series 6 full carrier seat in terms of designs and comfort, whilst retaining some of the features that drove the Series 3 as the choice of many a low-cost carrier.

The seat features a prereclined fixed seatback, an upper literature pocket, a sliding table and lightweight armrests, all within a 9kg per seat envelope.

For airlines wishing to improve the passenger experience onboard, comfortable seat covers, crew steps, lower literature pockets and power outputs in the form of USB Type A and Type C outputs can be added to the seats.

I tried it at the pitch given of 28″ (and yes… it seems 28″ pitch is a thing it seems as carriers see to get the most amount of passengers in a plane), and it’s pretty reasonable.

The legroom was acceptable as well – even at 28”, with the curved back that allows for a deeper seat back and space for your legs to rest naturally working well.

And yes, the middle seat is the widest at 18″ wide on an Airbus configuration. Certainly, a welcome thing if you’re stuck in the middle (and even a possible revenue opportunity if you’re an airline).

Who has signed for the Acro Series 6LC?

Acro confirmed to me that they are expecting their first customer to sign for this seat in the near future – quoted to be a major Low-Cost Carrier, and will be announcing it shortly.

Whilst the low-cost carrier methodology of “pack as many seats in as possible”, passenger comfort is still a priority, and the Series 6LC delivers that in the one-to-three hour low cost carrier range

Acro’s Series 6LC could be a good compromise for fleets that are looking to upgrade its seating on its planes.
