TAP Portugal signs Panasonic to provide connectivity on the A321neo fleet

08/05/2019 by Kevincm

TAP Air Portugal and Panasonic Avionics Corporation have announced an agreement to provide in-flight entertainment and connectivity for TAP’s new fleet of 14 A321neo LR aircraft.

Pansonic’s X series IFE system will be installed as part of the line-fit at the Airbus factory onto the new aircraft. The system is an on-demand system, with HD screens fitted to the seat – along with in-seat USB power at every seat.

TAP Portugal will also be able to utilise Panasonic’s inflight Wi-Fi service

This is another win for Panasonic, which will provide In-flight Entertainment and Communications on their new Airbus A330-900neo fleet – which will grow to 21 strong.

In quotes

Hideo Nakano, Chief Executive Officer of Panasonic Avionics Corporation, says: “

“Panasonic Avionics is honored to partner with TAP Air Portugal as they launch their next generation A321neo LR fleet, and we are delighted to help them deliver an enhanced passenger experience with our entertainment and connectivity solutions.”

Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of TAP says:

“TAP’s new aircraft are equipped with the state-of-the-art inflight entertainment systems and WiFi connectivity, reflecting the company’s ambition to provide customers with the best products the industry has to offer,”

Increasing connectivity options

As demand to be connected in the air continues to grow – for the passenger – it’s great to see airlines responding, and line-fitting equipment as they get their aircraft fresh from the factory. With the missions that the Airbus A321neo LR is destined for longer routes (with it currently serving Lisbon to Tel Aviv), connectivity becomes more important on the longer segments.

With TAP Portugal trusting Panasonic to deliver on both their long haul platforms, it should provide a unified experience when travelling.
