It’s been a couple of days – but it seems Swiss have brought their Airbus A220 fleet on-stream again after grounding the fleet for inspections.

In a tweet, the airline states:
Flight update: After thorough inspections of all C Series aircraft, flight operations have been resumed on a regular basis this morning. We very much regret the inconveniences caused to our passengers. Customers in need of further assistance may contact our service team anytime.

(Editors side note: It’s interesting to note the Swiss Twitter team calls the type “C Series” still. I guess the Airbus marketing department hasn’t educated them yet…)
The fleet operates out of Swiss’s Zurich and Geneva hubs and provides regional and lower capacity aircraft to routes that cannot justify the use of larger Airbus A320 family aircraft.
The grounding was made after a Swiss A220-300 had divert to Paris after an engine shut-down was reported in flight.
With the fleet in the air again, there will still be questions why the Pratt and Whitney engine failed in-flight.
With this being a serious engine failure, there will be questions what happened and why.
