With CS-TOG being withdrawn from the TAP fleet, the airline has either got aircraft which are brand new or have been through an extensive refit.
It also means that if you’re flying long-haul with TAP, the in-flight experience will be constant throughout. In addition, new long-haul aircraft offer passengers an inflight entertainment system, Wi-Fi connection with free text messaging and the A330neo aircraft are fitted with the Airspace by Airbus cabin
The long-haul fleet a year ago was made up of four Airbus A340 and 17 A330ceo aircraft.
Currently, is now made up of
- 17 Airbus A330-900neo
- 4 Airbus A321 LR
- 7 Airbus A330-200ceo with retrofitted and standardised cabin interiors.
The airline also has eight further A321LR and six Airbus A330-900neo on order.
For TAP it’s been one of the fastest fleet make-overs experience been through as it sheds the older inefficient aircraft for new generation aircraft.
TAP Air Portugal states
This more modern and comfortable fleet enables TAP to keep investing in the excellence of its operation. The new fleet lets TAP open new routes, expand the network of destinations and diversify the markets where it operates.
The airline also claims
This fleet modernisation process will enter civil aviation history as being one of the fastest fleet transformations ever in the world.
One step at a time
TAP Air Portugal continues to change itself and modernise – as well as the passenger experience in the air, it must focus on ground services too – an area where TAP has faltered in the past.
This and changing the passenger the perception of the airline is going be the real challenge. Whilst its Net Promoter Score is increasing (according to the airline), that needs to translate to action on the ground and in the air.
But as a basis of a solid fleet – it’s a good start.
