Brussels Airlines some years ago started its own loyalty programme – Loop.
However, it seems that the time of Loops is over – and the airline will fold its programme on the 1st February 2020.
Instead – passengers will move to Lufthansa Group’s Miles and More programme.
The planned changes are as follows:
- All bookings including a valid LOOP number made by 31 January 2020 and flown by 31 January 2021 on Brussels Airlines-operated flights will still be rewarded in LOOPs.
- If you have LOOPs on your account, you can still use them by 31 January 2021 to book any Brussels Airlines-operated flight
- As from 1 February 2020, it will no longer be possible to either enrol to the LOOP programme or to earn LOOPs.
Brussels airlines argue:
Next to LOOP, Brussels Airlines offers its guests the possibility to earn and redeem miles with Miles & More, Europe’s leading frequent flyer and awards programme. In fact, many of our LOOP members are also members of Miles & More. Over the last four years, Miles & More has expanded its features to offer you additional possibilities to earn and spend miles, thus coming close to the benefits offered by LOOP.
Within this context, as well as with an aim to simplify our loyalty offer and the way to reward you every time you choose Brussels Airlines, the decision has been taken to offer only one attractive loyalty programme, Miles & More, as from 1 February 2020.
The big question: Can I convert Loops into Miles & More Miles?
The simple answer: No. There will be no transfer of Loops into Miles & More Miles.
Quoting the airline’s FAQ page:
You’ll have to exchange your remaining Loops for Brussels Airlines flights before 31st January 2021. Any Loops remaining will be forfeit and lost.

When any airline programme goes through a closure process, it’s important to keep an eye on the FAQ’s to see what else they’re planning. Brussels Airlines has loaded FAQs at https://faq.brusselsairlines.com/l/en/category/49vickc6li-loop-and-miles-and-more
Brøther, would you spære a lööp or thrëë?
Well, whilst Loops seemed like a good idea at a revenue-based loyalty programme, unique to Brussels Airlines. And for a while – it seemed to have worked. However, with Brussels Airlines seemly playing more to the Lufthansa family than it has done in some years – as well as Lufthansa changing Miles & More around to be almost the equivalent on the cheaper fares, it was only a matter of before Loops outlived their usefulness.
But if you have Loops – it’s time to spend them, before they start to vanish by 31st January 2021. Similarly, if you need to keep your Loops alive, you’ll need to have activity on your account by the 31st January 2020.
