Into Spain
Exiting the aircraft, we headed up the jetbridge and over to the EU border. Thankfully – it’s a very short walk for both of us to the border.

My friend tried the automatic system passport system – whilst I cleared immigration manually.
To the Border
Needless to say – I was waiting for a good two minutes for my friend to clear the automatic gates. Sometimes, the old ways are better…
With immigration completed, we headed down to baggage claim, and to the straight to the pubic area. The joy of travelling light.
We were out of the secured area in 10 minutes flat – which is what I call a great arrivals experience.
That done, we decided to dump a bag containing the pillow and some of my friend’s clothes, so she could travel light – and I could just carry what we needed. Yes – there is left luggage at Barcelona Airport – but it is in the back end of the airport near the 800 check-in desks and the Metro entrance.
Onto the Aerobús
With the bag in a safe luggage store and €10.20 for the privilege – we headed for the Aerobus to Plaça de Catalunya
Whilst the metro is cheaper, the bus takes 37 minutes point to point. I’m not moaning at all compared to an hour or so on the metro (which would require stairs and such).
Considering it’s also €10.20 return a person, it makes logical sense if we’re in and out of the city for a day, rather than messing around with metros and trains. Of course – your own mileage varies. If you have the time, maybe you’d want to do the metro or train to take your time. If you’re a bit more time-limited, or if you’re happy on the roads, the Aerobus does the trick nicely for connecting the airport to the city.
Note, that Aerobus is outside the Barcelona public transport ticketing system, so you can’t use your passes or tickets on it.
For use, it was not too shabby at all – and not too many up and downstairs to help my friend.
With a full load, our bus left Terminal 1 and headed to Central Barcelona.
With no other stops, our bus proceeded out of Barcelona El Prat and off into the city centre. Wi-Fi was on-board the bus – but not particularity usable. I chose to fall back onto the phone 4G signal for the rest of the trip where I needed connectivity.
Considering I use Google Maps a lot when travelling (as well as Pokemon Go), it has its uses having data on the road.
With the drive into the city being a fast one, followed by some local traffic on the roads, we reached our starting point for the day – Plaça de Catalunya.
Why? It offers easy access to the coast and also to the Gothic Quarter.
A perfect spot to do some photography.
