- A welcome change
Looking back to late September, I honestly didn’t know how bad things were going to get, with the rise of second wave of coronavirus in the UK and Europe. I think I was lucky in my timing heading out of the UK – even if it was for a night, to try and obtain a little sanity, before coming back to the madhouse that was my office.
And trust me – it was mad from exactly 11 am the Monday I came back.
However, the trip did something that I needed to do – to stop worrying about the things around me for two days.
Travel has always been a safety valve for me to use and exploit when things got bad – it always has been a useful one at that.
Because whilst problems don’t go away if you run away, the can be made to feel a little distant. If for 48 hours.
And as we head into the dark winter months where mental health becomes more important than ever, looking back to brighter days can help sustain the soul for a little while.
Onto the wrap-up.
Birmingham Airport – It’s amazing how the war on liquids still continues, and that minimal people can obey a two mere distancing rule. On the plus side, it was quieter that normal. Which was expected.
Lufthansa – Well organised and a managed travel expectation, with a sliver of service on the side. Shame that they enjoy using bus gates at Frankfurt Airport still
Frankfurt Airport (departure and arrival) – Two words – “German Efficiency” or a lack of thereafter.
The Frankfurt Airport XXL Tour– If you’re interested in aviation, this tour is for you. Just remember to learn some basic German first.
The Mercure City/Messe – More than adequate – and reasonably priced for a night including breakfast.
Next: With travel suspended again in the UK, I do have some more travel technology on my bench to review. Because if you can’t travel, tech is close enough a good getaway.
I also a hotel review that will sneak out that I completed before England went back into lockdown.
For now, thank you for reading these witterings. We’ll be back with some travel.
Eventually.
