If you are returning from these countries, you do not have to quarantine on arrival unless you’ve transited via a red/amber list country on the way). You will have to complete a pre-departure COVID test, complete a PCR Test by day 2 of your arrival and fill in the appropriate arrivals paperwork.
However, apart from Malta, everyone else is on a “green watchlist” – meaning that the countries could change from green to amber or red at the Her Majesty’s government discretion.
However…
Arrivals into certain countries and regions are controlled, with some putting up new barriers.
- Spain will require all passengers to prove they are fully vaccinated, or provide a negative PCR test on arrival. This includes travellers to the Balearics See https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements
- Malta will only allow double-vaccinated passengers into their country. Note you’ll need the letter, rather than the NHS app – see https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/malta/entry-requirements
- Portugal is enforcing a 14-day quarantine unless they can prove they received their second vaccine dose a fortnight before arrival. See https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/portugal/entry-requirements
In some cases, countries have closed their borders and will not allow people in (in the case of some of the territories and countries listed).
Therefore you must check before you book and ensure you meet the criteria for entry into a country or territory, as well as check the requirements to return to England.
Red List additions
There was also a smattering of Red List countries too. They are:
- Dominican Republic
- Eritrea
- Haiti
- Mongolia
- Tunisia
- Uganda.
This goes into effect at 4 am on Wednesday 30th June. Travellers from Red List Counties must take a COVID-19 test before travel and book a quarantine hotel package, including 2 COVID-19 tests. A completed passenger locator form is mandatory too. On arrival in England, you must quarantine in a managed hotel, including 2 COVID-19 tests.
It goes without saying – plan before you travel.
