Emirates prepares for a major Dubai network ramp-up, with UK, USA and Africa boosted

11/08/2021 by Kevincm

With the UAE and the UK easing entry protocols, and the UAE dropping onto the UK’s Amber list, Emirates is beginning a fast ramp-up of services, with the spike of demand across their network.

United Kingdom

From today, the Dubai – London Heathrow route goes three times daily, utilising Airbus A380.

This will scale upwards through August and September. By the middle of October, this will return to six flights a day – with four of those flights being operated by an Airbus A380.

By October, the airline will increase its services to 73 weekly flights to the United Kingdo, including:

  • A six times a day service to London Heathrow
  • Double-Daily A380 flights to Manchester
  • Ten weekly services to Birmingham
  • Daily services to Glasgow

United States of America

The United States is currently served with 70 weekly flights to 12 cities by Emirates. The airline will add additional frequencies for travellers to the following cities:

  • Houston Intercontinental
  • Boston Logan
  • San Francsico International
  • New York-JFK will scale from a 777-300 to an Airbus A380 from 13 August

Africa

Meanwhile, the African gateways will see capacity increases too:

  • Johannesburg increase from daily to 11 weekly flights, with the addition of four linked flights with Durban
  • Cape Town will operate three times a week

Capacity has also been reinstated to

  • Lusaka (linked with Harare) – five weekly flights
  • Entebbe – five weekly flights

Further changes to come

As changes to border controls continue to happen, along with easing travel restrictions, Emirates is going to continue expanding its network to meet demand. As such, expect further changes as the travel situation is still in flux.

The airline has resumed passenger services to over 120 destinations, recovering close to 90% of its pre-pandemic network.

Just remember, just because an airline flies to a destination, it doesn’t mean the destination will let you in.

Check before you travel.
