Like most airlines, Emirates is ramping its network back up after having to reduce them over the past 16 months. With the airline seeing signs that passenger demand and confidence is increasing, it’s adding capacity to the United Kingdom and Europe
Newcastle returns
The airline is adding Newcastle (United Kingdom) back to its network, with a four times a week service. Planned operation is as follows
EK033 DEPART DXB 14:30 ARRIVE NCL 19:10 EK034 DEPART NCL 21:10 ARRIVE DXB 07:25+1 Commences 15th October 2021 Operates four times a week Booked Equipment: Boeing 777-300ER (Two Class) Data: Emirates
UK Network upscale
By the end of October, Emirates will offer 77 weekly flights to the UK as it gradually recovers operations in one of its most important global markets. UK weekly operations include the following
- Six times daily London Heathrow operation with five A380 services
- Double daily A380 flights to Manchester
- 10 weekly services to Birmingham
- Daily services to Glasgow
- Four weekly services to Newcastle.
The network changes are due to the UAE moving to the UK’s Amber travel list. In turn, this has implications for those who need to quarantine/self-isolate on arrival, as well as those who have been vaccinated. Check out my commentary here.
Germany connections
Germany will get a network upscale too, with Emirates expanding frequencies to daily flights in Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich, with a total of 50 flights a week by 31 October.
Flights between Dusseldorf and Dubai, as well as between Hamburg and Dubai, will also be upgraded to the Emirates A380 to offer more capacity between both cities.
Increasing European Coverage
With demand increasing from customers, Emirates has also brought forward its plans to introduce extra flights and capacity to over 10 European cities. These include:
- Birmingham
- Barcelona
- Brussels
- Dublin
- Hamburg
- London
- Lisbon
- Madrid
- Munich
- Rome
- Zurich
Many of these cities will be served with daily flights or more. You’ll need to check the Emirates site for the latest operational changes.
Beyond Europe
Emirates has also announced route restarts in other parts of its global network, including the resumption of flights between Male and Colombo from 1 September, By mid-October, Emirates will also increase its service between Male and Dubai to four daily flights.
Other routes that will see increased frequencies include Muscat with four weekly flights from 28 August and Sao Paulo, which will have daily flights from 5 October.
Sustainable, but demand-driven growth
Emirates is re-establishing its network based on sustainability, as well demand-driven growth as entry restrictions change globally. The airline has resumed passenger services to over 120 destinations and has recovered close to 90% of its pre-pandemic network.
That growth is being driven both by its network and the need to meet increasing passenger demand.
As usual, if you need to connect, Emirates mega-hub at Dubai International awaits you.
