It’s that time again – 4 am in the morning has passed, so the latest changes to the UK Government’s Red, Amber and Green Lists have gone into effect.

To remind you, here are the latest changes to the lists:

Countries moved to the Green List:

  • Canada – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/canada
  • Denmark – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/denmark
  • Finland – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/finland
  • Liechtenstein – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/liechtenstein
  • Lithuania – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/lithuania
  • Switzerland – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/switzerland
  • The Azores – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/portugal

Green list arrivals will require a pre-departure test, a passenger locator form, and a Day 2 PCR test. There will be no requirement to quarantine at all, vaccinated or otherwise.

The list of Green list countries can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#green-list. Rules are at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#green-list-rules.

Countries moved to the Amber List:

  •  None

Amber List arrivals to the United Kingdom require different requirements depending on your vaccination status and where you were vaccinated.

  • Vaccinated travellers require a  pre-departure test, a passenger locator form, completed and a Day 2 PCR test.
  • Unvaccinated/Partially Vaccinated travellers will require a pre-departure test, a passenger locator form completed and a Day 2 PCR test, as well as Self-Isolating for up to 10 days and a Day 8 test.

Note that the advice for vaccinated travellers applies to those vaccinated in the United Kingdom, United States of America, European Union or Switzerland.

For travellers who have been vaccinated by other authorities, you will need to self-isolate on arrival (either a home or hotel).

The Amber list country list can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#amber-list. Entry details at  https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#amber-list-rules.

Countries moved to the Red List:

  • Montenegro – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/montenegro
  • Thailand – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/thailand

Red List Countries/Territories have limits of entry – only allowing UK citizens and permanent residents to enter the country.

Red List Passengers are required to pre-book a managed quarantine hotel, complete a pre-departure test, a passenger locator form, isolate for 10 days in a managed quarantine facility, with day 2 and day 8 PCR tests.

Red list countries can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#red-list. Red List entry rules can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#red-list-rules.

Where is the constantly changing list?

The list is published at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england.

Are countries reciprocating?

It is varying. In most cases, you will need to wade through the entry criteria of each country as needed.

Remember – travel is different this year, with each country imposing its own rules and entry criteria. You must ensure that you meet them to enter a country.
