Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (19th/20th March)

19/03/2022 by Kevincm

It’s that time of the week when I look back on things, made bullet points and ponder if I have had enough coffee. Yes, It’s Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

It is green – The Chicago River last Monday. It’s been a busy time since I’ve got back from my trip… with plenty of content on the way. And boy, it was nice travelling again.

Passenger Experience

  • Stella Aerospace to deliver its Equinox seat for China Airlines – A rather nice seat for China Airlines.
  • Qatar Airways ties up with Diptyque for new amenity kits – It seems Qatar Airways has switched away from Brix amenity kits for now.
  • British Airways to offer Aviation American Gin aboard – Gin in the air
  • Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory – Welcome to Heathrow Terminal 5 – Oh boy. How to mess up arrivals at Heathrow.

Routes and Networks

  • American Airlines to move some flights around Heathrow Terminals – Do the shuffle! Four routes move to Terminal 5.
  • Emirates tries again with Tel Aviv – “And before I leave, Let me show you Tel Aviv”
  • Norse Atlantic Airways secures Gatwick slots, but delays launch – It seems Norse Atlantic is trying to weather itself against the fuel prices at before it launches
  • Qatar Airways to return to Gatwick Airport in June – Another London gateway for Qatar Airways.

Offers

  • British Airways offers 50% bonus on Avios purchases through 24th March – Discount Avios ahoy!

Travel Changes

  • UK to drop Passenger Locator form requirement – Well, that waste of time form has vanished for now.

Rail

  • Gatwick Express to resume operations from 3rd April – “Premium” Express services to Gatwick due to restart.

Pretty Pictures

  • Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300ER climbing out of Chicago O’Hare

Next Week

Well, I’ve had a nice two weeks off, which means I go back to my daily grind from Monday onwards. However, there’s plenty to look forward to on Economy Class and Beyond.

For starters, I have snapshots that will be kicking off Monday, as well as our usual coverage.

As for the trip report? The writing is going suspiciously well at the moment. It’s a matter of sorting images out.

But for now, stay safe and happy landings!
