We’re in the throes of a Bank Holiday weekend in the UK – but even then, it’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.
Gas Street Basin, Birmingham. It’s amazing what a bit of sun and the blue sky does for this city.
Passenger Experience
- Etihad to operate its Airbus A350-1000 – with Recaro seating – The CL3710 has another customer with Eithad.
- Hawaiian Airlines taps Starlink for in-flight connectivity – Elon seems to have flogged Starlink to another airline
Routes and networks
- United Airlines prepares to kick off a busy transatlantic summer – Well, United is living up to the “It’s time to fly” motto.
- Norse Atlantic Airways confirms its first set of routes out of Oslo – It’s taken long enough for Norse to decide where they are flying for Summer 2022. I suspect there will be more announcements over the next few weeks however
Loyalty
- Iberia to extend all members frequent flyer status again – Iberia goes simple. British Airways… not so much.
Trains
- Avanti West Coast unveils its Pendolino train refurbishment – Well, let’s see how long it takes to get dirty.
- It’s coming up to the early May Bank Holiday… and once again, there are major closures on the rail network – Nothing changes. Although there are promises of minimal work for the big holiday in June…

Next Week
With the bank holiday weekend, I’ve been taking it easy for a few days before and after it – however, it is giving me time to get into serious writing and reviewing.
Good things come to those who wait. Including the start of my M1 Mac coverage.
We’ll be back to normal over the week as we head back to a normal week, with our usual mixture of coverage, views and anything else that grabs my eye.
Until then – Stay safe and happy landings!
