At Economy Class and Beyond, we love clever uses of technology. AERQ showed off a two-way screen, that can give options for the cabin
We all know screens are useful in the cabin for displaying information. The concept here is to use it as a two-way display, so on one side, information is shared, whilst on the other, it is transparent.
Here’s a short video demonstration of it in action.
And rendered too.
The idea is that content can be still shown in the cabin, whilst the crew can keep visibility of passengers through the divider. In a situation where there is no power, the OLED powers down, and the panel is transparent in a critical situation.
As well as this, AERQ has designed other variants that fit into different parts of cabins and monuments, allowing information to be shared.
Using technology differently.
Its interesting to see AERQ – who have come together after a year as a joint venture of LG and Lufthansa Technik to deliver new experiences in the air – both with their IFE Server systems with seat back heads (we’ll be taking a look at them soon), content and information management (which Eurowings Discover has taken advantage of).
Certainly – one company to keep an eye on in the future.
Disclaimer. Economy Class and Beyond was a guest of AERQ on their stand at Aircraft Interiors Expo.
