TRIP REPORT: Doing it for the Tier Points – 320 Tier Points, Done

320 Tier Points, Done.

  • And once again, welcome to the Tier Point Enrichment Centre
  • What can you do with about three hours and a bit of sleep? (Coach, Heathrow Airport and Lounge)
  • Finnair AY1332 London Heathrow to Helsinki (Business Class/A350)
  • Planes, Trains, Boats and Trams – Into Helsinki and slightly beyond
  • Crowne Plaza Helsinki
  • A Morning walk around Helsinki
  • Back to Vantaa, Finnair Non-Schengen Lounge
  • Finnair AY1337 Helsinki to London Heathrow (Business Class/A350)
  • Heathrow wows, Euston moans, and Rugby looks pretty
  • 320 Tier Points, Done

Well, that was a fun set of flights. Part of the reason why I love Tier Point and Mileage Runs runs is that sometimes – they land you in locations you would have never considered in normal circumstances.

And Helsinki falls into that perfectly. For me, it’s always been a transfer point to Heathrow rather than a destination. After exploring it in the summer, I would be more than happy for those who want to explore a compact city with its fair share of sights and comfort options.

With 80 Tier Points per trip (along with 2000ish or so Avios), this has been a fun way to rack up qualification for 2023 without breaking the bank too much.

Let us do a wrap-up to close up this trip report.

National Express – Getting more passable each trip.

inside a bus with lights and seats

Heathrow Airport – Slowly improving but inconsistent in parts of the passenger experience. And we all hate bus gates.

Cathay Pacific Lounge – I sometimes call this my Heathrow Home. It is the perfect place to relax before a flight of any length.

a group of people sitting in a lobby

Finnair – Again, the hard product is wonderful, although it was the previous generation seat I flew. The service was inconsistent compared to the previous trip.

Crowne Plaza Helsinki – The perfect getaway hotel or one that suits a business need. Being slightly out of the centre makes it a quiet stop.

Helsinki Airport – A pleasure to travel through and relatively painless in terms of queues.

Finnair Lounge – Nordic, comfortable and lots of choices for a lounge.

a room with tables and chairs

London Northwestern Railway – It got me home and gave me a workout. That’s all I’m going to say.

And that is your lot for my Helsinki Adventures. I hope you got a few ideas if you are planning to do a Tier Point or Mileage Run.

Just remember to leave the airport when travelling and enjoy the place you are visiting. You might discover something along the way.

Up Next

We’re off to Chicago shortly (and at these editing fingertips – I do mean shortly – to the point where I’m packing at the moment and pondering if I should have used a Trello Board). Join me in Fall fun in the Windy City – Off to Chicago with American Airlines and British Airways, starting soon.

And yes – it’s the classes you would expect from this blog.

Until then – happy landings!

Sounds like a good trip! But Horselamp misses you.

Sadly Horselamp will have to survive without me.

It dines on richer souls than me, I suspect 😉
