It’s that time of the week again when I put a bunch of links together, add witty commentary and ponder about the week ahead.
Welcome to Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.
The Hare and the Minotaur – Cheltenham Spa
Fall Fun in the Windy City
I am getting towards the end of the trip report – but some food, technology and experiences to keep you going.
- A different take on the Chicago Deep Dish Pizza – Pequod’s Pizza
- Nighttime Adventures with the iPhone 14 Pro
- Return to a much busier O’Hare Terminal 5
Routes and Networks
A lot of announcements this week as we head towards the end of the year.
- Singapore Airlines adjusts capacity across its network – A380 expansion to Australia, regional route growth, but no more A380s to the USA.
- LATAM and Delta to start Joint Venture service between São Paulo and Los Angeles – A lot of movement as the LATAM/Delta Joint Venture goes into overdrive
- Emirates bumps up capacity to Colombo – Seasonal capacity increase, with Malé getting extra flights too.
- SAS to add Copenhagen to New York JFK route – Starting small with an A321LR, then scaling to an A330
The Business of Aviation
- FlyAtlantic makes a splash – but can this work? – Belfast International Airport as an international hub. Hmmm.
Rail Strikes
The winter of discontent continues, with ASLEF taking its members on strike. The RMT is also planning further action too…

Next Week
I’ll be wrapping up the trip report next week (all things being equal), as well as continuing our regular coverage of events, things of interest and items that keep me amused.
On top of that, I’m deep in Google Flights at the minute. Where it will take me… who can say?
Until then, Happy Landings!
