It seems airlines’ fascination with the Greater China area continues, as KLM is planning to increase services out of its Amsterdam hub to three of the destinations in the Greater China area.

The timetable changes will go into effect for the summer timetable. Again this is in part thanks to the lifting of travel restrictions by the Chinese government.
The planned operations for the summer schedule are as follows:
Hong Kong
- Amsterdam – Hong Kong – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
- Hong Kong – Amsterdam – Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays
Beijing
- Amsterdam – Beijing – Daily Service
- Beijing – Amsterdam – Daily Service
Shanghai
- Amsterdam – Shanghai- Daily Service
- Shanghai – Amsterdam – Daily Service
The exact times can be located on the KLM site, app and other published feeds. The planned increase is subject to government approval, with ticketing opened on these routes.
KLM seems happy with the planned increase – with the airline saying that:
“The Chinese market is important to the KLM network, because of the level of demand from business travellers.”
Check before you travel
It goes without saying that travel to China is subject to entry criteria and regulations. The airline adds that a facemask must be worn on flights to and from China.
KLM has a site for you to check current entry requirements and regulations at klm.traveldoc.aero. It’s always worth double-checking entry requirements for any country – even as the world is slowly returning to some sense of normality.
