It’s April Fools Day, but there’s no fooling around here, as we dive into last week’s headlines that ended up on the blog.
It’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.
If an image summed up a week – 200 Degrees Coffee, Colmore Row, Birmingham.
Snapshots
I’ve been travelling again. We all know what that means. Two snapshots this week, and two next week before we launch into the long trip report.
- British Airways 295 – London Heathrow to Chicago – Club World. Yup – The upgrade fairies finally visited me after a good few years.
- Crowne Plaza O’Hare (River Road, Rosemont)
Routes and networks
- Etihad expands interline agreements with six airlines – six friends sitting in a tree, i-n-t-e-r-l-i-n-g.
- Virgin Atlantic and Korean Air enter a codeshare agreement – Anyone would think that Virgin Atlantic is going to have to launch a service to Seoul for some reason soon.
- Emirates and United Airlines activate their codeshare – It’s time to fly better (bonus points for working out that tagline).
Passenger Experience
- Finnair makes onboard experiences cuts across all classes – There was a word I used in this article that sums this all up: petty.
- Manchester introduces a “Hotel Tourist Tax” – Come to Manchester. Pay more to stay at hotels!
- Lufthansa to open new lounges at Berlin Brandenburg Airport – Well, at least they’re taking their capital airport with more respect for the passengers that go through it
New Aircraft News
- EVA Air finalises orders for five extra Boeing 787 – We can only hope one of those is painted with Hello Kitty on it.
- Air Malta reveals is updated livery – Mostly Red.
HK Express goes A321neo
Two articles about HK Express’s latest delivery. One general and one going into the seating being installed
- HK Express unveils their first A321neo, with a new livery
- HK Express deploys its new Airbus A321neo with Recaro SL3710 seating
eVOTL
- United Airlines and Archer Aviation reveal its first eVOTL route in Chicago – I’m still not convinced.
Pretty pictures
Next week
It’s back to normal for me – as normal as things ever are at Economy Class and Beyond, with a busy week in the real world as we ramp towards the four-day Easter Holiday.
We’ll have a mixture of things going next week, as I try to get the trip report boxed into some sort of running order, get the other snapshots out, as well as some of the interesting things that have passed in my inbox and on my research rounds.
Until then, stay safe – and happy landings.
