Norse Atlantic Airways is set for a busy winter programme as it announces new flights for the winter season.
Gatwick to the Caribbean
We’ll kick off with London Gatwick, with the airline launching ticket sales to Barbados, Kingston and Montego Bay.
The three new routes from London join, New York, Washington, Los Angeles, Boston, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale which are already on sale for the winter.
They have confirmed the following operations, with lead-in fares:
- Barbados will operate daily from 29th October 2023 with fares starting from £449
- Kingston will operate three times a week from 31st October 2023 with fares starting from £579 return
- Montego Bay will operate four times a week from 29th October 2023 with fares starting from £559 return
Whilst all fares include taxes, you will need to factor in other costs – such as checked luggage.
In total Norse Atlantic will serve nine destinations from London Gatwick in winter 2023.
Meanwhile in Oslo
For those in Norway who seek winter sun (haven’t I used that sub-headline today?), Norse Atlantic Airways will open an Oslo to Bangkok route.
The first flight is on 2 November, with services operating twice a week. Lead-in prices start from NOK 3,829 one way, including all taxes and fees.
Passenger Experience
Norse Atlantic Airways will use Boeing 787-9 aircraft within their fleet for the services. They will offer the company’s usual products – Premium (with a 2-3-2 formation) and Economy (with a 3-3-3 formation). Within those classes, there are three sub-classes of service you can select, ranging from lite (which just includes the seat) to Plus (to give you a more traditional travel experience.
In Quotes
On the Gatwick route launches, Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways, said:
“We are very pleased to announce the launch of these new winter sun routes from London Gatwick. More travellers will now be able to experience these amazing destinations thanks to our low fares and those wishing to reunite with friends and family will have greater choice during this traditionally high demand period of travel. This winter Norse Atlantic will proudly become the second largest long haul carrier at London Gatwick by seat capacity and we are looking forward to welcoming on board both returning and new customers,”
Stephanie Wear, VP of Aviation Development, at London Gatwick said:
“We are really excited to see Norse expanding its range of destinations this winter. Having more opportunities for passengers to enjoy some winter sun in Barbados and Jamaica, at fantastic value, is great news for people across London and the South East.”
Moving onto the Bangkok route, Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways, added
“We are excited to introduce Bangkok, Thailand, as our first destination from Oslo to Asia. Bangkok has been a highly sought after destination on the wish list of our customers, and today we can fulfill this desire. This popular sunny long-distance destination is a favourite with leisure travellers seeking warmer temperatures and a welcoming culture, whether visiting the many fascinating cities or picture-perfect beaches. Our affordable prices mean that travellers from all over Scandinavia now have more choice at cheaper prices when booking their dream winter holiday. We look forward to launching other sunny winter destinations from Oslo soon“,
Airport Director at Oslo Airport, Stine Ramstad Westby, said:
“For Avinor, it is important that we have good connections to important and attractive markets, and a new direct route from Oslo to Bangkok will mean a lot for both holiday and business travellers. We are pleased that Norse Atlantic Airways has chosen to invest so clearly in its home market and this route will connect Thailand and Norway together in a great way.”
Confidence in the winter programme
There’s something different about Norse Atlantic Airways this year – and it boils down to confidence it seems.
At this time last year, the winter programme was very much in flux. This year, it seems they’re ready to go on the attack, going into new markets in the Caribbean, and joining the mele that seems to be Bangkok (with Lufthansa and SAS adding services to the Thai capital).
It seems the airline has been able to ride out the fluctuations in the market, and is preparing for a strong winter to sun destinations – as well as its core network destinations.
This could get interesting as others develop their flying programmes for the upcoming season.
