Indian carrier IndiGo has taken delivery of a new Airbus A321neo, which features the Recaro BL3710 seats installed.
This seat program marked the first time that IndiGo selected RECARO as a seating solution partner since the airline’s founding in 2006. Deliveries of the BL3710 will be installed on a fleet of 75 A321/A320neo aircraft.
Each A321 can seat 232 passengers utilising this seat with the configuration the airline has chosen.
The seats are fitted with a customised trim and finish. The lightweight seat offers numerous comfort features, including integrated neck support, an ergonomic backrest and generous living space.
The BL3710 was unveiled in 2019, built specifically for short and medium-haul flights. It has seen multiple deployments since its launch.
The BL3710 features a slim design, with a weight of less than 10kg per pax, and featured a small number of parts which reduces waste and advances the sustainable goals of both IndiGo and RECARO, with maintenance being offered by the which ensures support through the entire lifecycle of the seat.

“The addition of these new seats to our brand-new A321neo aircraft will elevate the overall travel experience for our customers, providing them with more comfort and convenience on short and medium-haul flights. As we continue to expand our network and offer more flight options, we will remain true to our promise of courteous, hassle-free, on-time, and affordable travel experience.”
The comfort consideration
Airlines of any sort will want to pack out every bit of space possible to generate revenue – that way, they can pay the bills to run the said airline.
IndiGo has selected a configuration of 232 passengers – 12 less than the possible maximum possible configuration of 244 passenger-available seats.
As such, there is a little room for comfort – which the Recaro BL3710 gives in its design, thanks to its reduced weight and passable legroom – even in the tighter seating layouts. Combined with the A32neo fuselage, it should offer a passable living space for the segments these aircraft will be flying.

I believe Frontier in the US has the SL3710 which is pretty similar. I recently sat in it for the first time on a few flights and it’s more comfortable than I thought. Still wouldn’t recommend it for a long flight, but for a few hours it’s fine. This line of seating, while lightweight, feels a little more solid than some others in the market.
