Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (1st July)

01/07/2023 by Kevincm

As we pass over the halfway hump of the year, it’s time to catch up on what I have been scribing about this week.

It’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

a group of people walking in a plaza with a clock tower
Centenary Square, Birmingham.

If you’ve noticed it’s been quieter than usual (and we’ve had a non-publishing day as well), things in the real world are hectic. All I’m going to say is this: If I see a Windows Out-of-the-Box onboarding screen, it will be far too soon.

Snapshots

  • British Airways 967 Hamburg to London Heathrow (CLUB EUROPE) – The last of the current passenger experience snapshots.

Orange News (or easyJet news)

  • easyJet readies for spring 2024, with seats on sale – For those who can plan, seats into Spring 2024 are now on sale
  • easyJet to add 15 routes out of Birmingham for 2024 -And 15 routes to go with the sale too as their Birmingham base gets ready to scale up.

Seating

  • The Acro Series 9 – A Welcome Upgrade? – An amazing amount of work goes on to develop a seat. We take a look at Acro Aircraft Seating’s Series 9 family.

New Aircraft News

Virgin Australia takes delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX – First MAX-8 to be Australian-based.

Passenger Experience

  • ANA and The Pokemon Company unveil “The Eevee Jet” – I was going to link “The Eevee Song”, but it might break some of the grown-up Pokemon fans…
  • Helsinki Airport adjusts liquids rules with a new scanner rollout – 2 litres of liquid per passenger, and you don’t need to unpack your bags… having not unpack your bag is heaven.

Pretty pictures

  • Air Canada Boeing 737 MAX 8 departing London Heathrow

Next Week

I’m still buried deep in “enjoying” the Windows Out of the Box Experience with enough laptops to sink another battleship. During this time, my publishing is still going to be limited, rather than planned usual fun things.

We’ll try and keep things above water with our usual mixture of news, views and stored articles that I forgot to push the publish button on.

Stay safe out there and happy landings!
