It’s the end of the week again. And I’ve seemingly been in the car more than not today.

It’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

Loyalty. Or lack thereof.

  • British Airways announces another batch of Avios Redemption flights  – Probably all sold out by now, but it was nice whilst it lasted
  • REMINDER: Last chance to lock in British Airways earnings under the old Avios earning scheme – We’re at the last chance salon before it British Airways goes all-revenue-based.

Travel Technology

  • Travel Technology – Lenovo ThinkPlus XT88 (Temu Tech Special) – Yes. Even I do Temu.

New Aircraft News

It’s been a busy week for airframers as they rack up orders.

  • TAAG Angola Airlines signs for Boeing 787 aircraft – Four 787s of an undefined type heading to TAAG
  • Luxair signs for the Embraer E195-E2 – Four firm orders and lots of options for Luxair
  • easyJet signals its ready to place a new Airbus order – Up to 257 aircraft, subject to shareholder approval

Passenger Experience

  • Time to fly KLM Business Class again, as their new Delftware miniature house is released – Because all AVGeeks have a collection of these… right?
  • Emirates unveils new Premium Economy and Economy Class amenity kits in collaboration with United for Wildlife – New kits… and earplugs coming to the majority of passengers on long-haul flights.

Routes and Networks

  • ITA launches its winter 2023-2024 timetable, with advanced plans for Summer 2024 – Long-Haul growth for coming seasons

Rail

  • Passenger Competition through the Channel Tunnel? Evolyn breaks cover – I’m keeping more than a beady eye on this. It has risks, but a lot of potential…

Oh dearie me…

  • MYairline of Malaysia suspends operations – We’ll see if this airline resumes. But when everything is grounded, its not a good sign, to put it mildly.
