Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (27th April)

27/04/2024 by Kevincm

It’s fast approaching the end of another month, and my planning skills are nearer the wall than usual. It must be time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

a city with many buildings and a cloudy sky
From the 25th floor of Alpha Tower, looking out towards the Libary of Birmingham, The Hyatt Regency Birmingham, The Rep, The ICC, Brindley Place and the NIA.

Trip Report: Surprise, Surprise!

Three more segments from this trip report – but there’s a special Sunday segment tomorrow. We’re onto food and experiences next, so expect a busy week of posts.

  • AA87 London Heathrow to Chicago O’Hare (Main Cabin Extra)
  • Into the USA and The Crowne Plaza O’Hare
  • The Hyatt Regency O’Hare, Rosemont

Passenger Experience

  • British Airways to move to Chicago O’Hare departures to Terminal 3 – Well, it’s taken long enough. Thank $deity for that.
  • oneworld launches its 25th-anniversary cocktail – Old enough to order its own cocktails now, without being carded
  • Brussels Airlines reveals its new Belgian Icon  – Amare to take flight – And it looks stunning.

Routes and Networks

  • Korean Air and Westjet deepen codeshare ties – with Korean Air adding their code to the new Westjet flight from Calgary, whilst more Westjet codes on flights in Asia.
  • Lufthansa City Airlines prepares to put its tickets on sale – On sale… now.
  • Play Airlines toys with Cardiff – twice a week, for six weeks. Football is a funny old game.
  • Etihad to return its Airbus A380 to Paris – First London, then New York, now Paris. It’s almost as if Etihad has found a working plan for its A380 fleet

New Aircraft news

  • Condor takes delivery of its first Airbus A320neo – and it has red stripes
  • IndiGo to go widebody and order Airbus A350 aircraft – 30 to start with, options for 70

Pretty Pictures

  • Airplane Art – United Airlines Boeing 767-300ER at London Heathrow Terminal 2

Next Week

There are a few things in the pipeline that I’m working on at the moment, however, we’ll have our usual mix of news views and whatever else crossed my inbox.

On top of that, we’ll have some more of the trip report this week – so something else to look forward to.

Until then happy landings!
